Former Executive Vice President and Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Amylin Pharmaceuticals (Retired)

Ms. Brown held a variety of executive positions over her career in the pharmaceutical industry, including with Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she was executive vice president responsible for commercial operations, Dura Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (acquired by Elan Pharmaceuticals), and Eli Lilly and Company. She is currently vice chairman of the board of trustees of the University of California San Diego Foundation and a member of the board of directors of each of Labopharm, Inc., the Corporate Directors Forum, an organization formed to promote high standards of professionalism in corporate governance, and CONNECT, an organization that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship and the formation of new companies in southern California. Ms. Brown has been a member of Targacept’s board of directors since November 2007 and serves on the Compensation Committee.
