Errol B. De Souza, Ph.D.

President and Chief Executive Officer, Biodel

Dr. De Souza is President and Chief Executive Officer of Biodel Inc. His previous roles include president and chief executive officer of Archemix Corporation, president and chief executive officer of Synaptic Pharmaceuticals (acquired by H. Lundbeck A/S), various senior management positions with Aventis and its predecessor company, Hoechst Marion Roussel Pharmaceuticals, and co-founder of Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. Dr. De Souza currently serves as chairman for the steering board for GlaxoSmithKline’s Immunology Inflammation Center of Excellence for Drug Discovery, on the investment committee for Royalty Pharma and on the board of directors of each of Biodel and Bionomics Ltd. Dr. De Souza has been a member of Targacept’s board of directors since January 2004 and is the chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee.
