
Targacept Among "Best Places to Work" in Industry
On May 26, 2009, The Scientist, magazine of the life sciences, announced the winners of its 7th annual "Best Places to Work in Industry" survey. This year's survey yielded responses from representatives of 238 companies worldwide. Targacept ranked 23rd overall in the ranking of the Top 30 Companies, among Small Companies (1,000 or less) and Large Companies (more than 5,000 employees). At the time of the survey, Targacept had 113 employees.
Companies participate in the survey by invitation only. At the 238 companies in the survey, members of the science staff were asked to assess their working environment according to 45 criteria in eight different categories, including job satisfaction, benefits, training and integrity. At Targacept, the most highly ranked factors by our respondents were: Research Environment; Management; Integrity; and Communications. "This is our third consecutive year on the list, and we placed ahead of several other well-known and well-respected companies in our industry," said J.
