Peter A. Zorn, Esq. Vice President, Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary

Mr. Zorn joined Targacept in May 2003 and became its first General Counsel in January 2006. He has played a key role in the establishment of Targacept's strategic relationships with AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline, as well as in the completion of Targacept's initial public offering and other financing transactions. In 2009, Mr. Zorn was recognized as one of 10 In-House Leaders in the Law by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

Prior to Targacept, he practiced with the law firm Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he represented and advised a number of emerging growth life science companies and larger public companies in connection with a wide variety of legal matters, including private equity financings, public securities offerings, corporate partnering, licensing and other strategic transactions, securities compliance and general corporate and contract matters. He began his legal career with the law firm Schell Bray Aycock Abel & Livingston in Greensboro.

Mr. Zorn received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his undergraduate degree from Harvard. He is licensed in North Carolina and Massachusetts.
