Targacept to Present at CIBC and Lazard Investor Conferences

Targacept, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRGT), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a new class of drugs known as NNR Therapeutics (TM), today announced that J. Donald deBethizy, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, is scheduled to present at two upcoming investor conferences:
- The 18th Annual CIBC World Markets Healthcare Conference at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 12:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time; and
- Lazard Capital Markets Fourth Annual Healthcare Conference at The New York Palace in New York City on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
