Targacept in the Community

We are pleased to be part of a community that has a proud history and a promising future.

A major benefit of being in the Piedmont Triad Research Park is our proximity to the physiology and pharmacology department of Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSOM). Many of our personnel are adjunct faculty members at WFUSOM. Being close to their labs and a short drive from the University itself allows for even greater scientific collaboration.

We collaborate with Salem College and Winston-Salem State University, also within close proximity to our offices. We also work with numerous local educational institutions and organizations to support initiatives that will prepare our future workforce for careers in the region's growing biotechnology industry.

Many of our personnel take an active role in the community, serving on local and regional nonprofit and educational boards. Our management team is committed to working with city and county leaders, area businesses, regional universities and the community at large to create and maintain a dynamic environment to propel the growth of a technology-based economy in Winston-Salem.
